MIS/GIS
The Manager of Information Systems supervises and coordinates operations of personal
computers, local and wide area networks, AS/400 operations, e-mail, Internet access
and telecommunications within County Government.
The MIS Director is in charge of maintaining all related operating systems, application
software and hardware, and systems documentation. The director proposes policies
and guidelines regarding the purchase, installation, and use of information technology.
In addition, MIS reviews all requests and recommends purchase of new technology
and coordinates training activities for county staff.
The MIS Director is also responsible for the development and maintenance of the
county's Geographic Information System (GIS) program. To date, this program has
worked in conjunction with the County Surveyor on the county remonumentation and
basemapping project. The county Enhanced 911 program which also uses extensive GIS
technology, is also coordinated through the MIS Director in cooperation with the
County Sheriff.
