Training Resources and Additional Information

SIDS/Shaken Baby Syndrome Training

  • Lake of the Woods County Social Services has approved online training to be used for the SIDS/Shaken Baby Syndrome Course.  Please contact the licensor for approved websites.

  • You are required to view an approved Shaken Baby Syndrome video each year that you do not take the Shaken Baby Syndrome Training.  Approved videos are (1) Portrait of Promise and (2) Never Shake a Baby.  These videos are available to you through Lake of the Woods County Social Services and can be viewed at our office or checked out.

Car Seat Safety Training

·         Effective January 1, 2006, licensed day care providers were required to take a child passenger restraint training course before transporting children under the age of 9 in a motor vehicle. This is generally three hours of class room training and it must be updated every 5 years.  See licensing social worker about availability and locations of these trainings.

Additional Information

·         Current certification in CPR and First Aid by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association may be substituted for the initial CPR and First Aid Training.

·         If a provider has obtained post secondary credits in a child development related field within the previous 5 years, the required child development  training hours may be waived.
