Veteran's Service Officer:

The County Board appoints the Veteran’s Service Officer, usually for a four-year term. The CVSO provides services and information to eligible veterans of Lake of the Woods County. Duties include assistance with the following areas: claims processing for veteran's benefits, medical care, pension and disability compensation claims, vocational rehabilitation, insurance claims, burial benefits and markers, emergency subsistence and educational benefits from federal and state agencies. The CVSO often arranges for transportation to and from the Veteran's Hospital. The Veteran's Service Officer participates in an on-going training and certification program.
