The County Highway Department is responsible to maintain and reconstruct the roads and bridges under its jurisdiction to provide a safe and efficient means for the vehicular transportation of people and goods throughout Lake of the Woods County. The department oversees the maintenance of 195 miles of County State Aid Highways (CSAH), 45 miles of County roads, 350 miles of Unorganized Township roads, and 500 miles of unimproved Unorganized Township roads. All townships in Lake of the Woods County are unorganized. In addition to the roads, the Highway Department oversees the maintenance of 139 bridges. The term County Highway will be used to refer to all routes overseen and maintained by the Highway Department.
