APPLICANT FINGERPRINTS
The Lake of the Woods County Sheriff’s Office offers fingerprinting for the general public who are required to submit them for a job application, licensing, adoption, etc. Contact the Administrative Assistant at 218-634-4568 to schedule a fingerprinting appointment.  Appointments will be made according to the availability of the Administrative Assistant.

Please do NOT fill out the fingerprint cards beforehand. The prints are done electronically and will be printed on the cards. If you do not have any fingerprint cards, the Sheriff’s Office will provide them for you.

At the time of the appointment, you will be required to provide one form of government issued identification such as a current driver’s license, state issued IDs, or valid passport along with the fingerprinting fee.

FEES
Cash or check only. No credit or debit cards.
$20.00 per set of fingerprints cards.

CRIMINAL FINGERPRINTS
Those with criminal charges who are in need of fingerprints must contact Dispatch at 218-634-1143 to set up an appointment. Appointments will be made according to the availability of the Dispatcher on duty.

At the time of the appointment, you will be required to provide one form of government issued identification such as a current driver’s license, state issued IDs, or valid passport.

The Sheriff’s Office is tasked with regulating and maintaining the use of all public waters within Lake of the Woods County. This includes both Lake of the Woods and the Rainy River. To accomplish this, the Lake of the Woods County Sheriff’s Office issues permits for water related activities including special events.

Requesting a permit:
Send a copy of the following paperwork to the Sheriff’s Office:

  • DNR permit to conduct a fishing tournament 
  • DNR permission letter  
  • Permit administration fee

Please allow up to 7 business days for your permit to be processed. Once processed, the permit will be mailed and a copy will be e-mailed if requested.

The mission of the Lake of the Woods County Sheriff’s Office is to provide an opportunity to the public for a safe and secure environment of disposing unused, unwanted, and expired medications and to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of these potential dangerous prescriptions and/or over-the-counter medication.

What can I drop in the box?

  1. Prescription medications
  2. Prescription patches
  3. Over-the-Counter medications
  4. Vitamins
  5. Samples
  6. Medications for pets

What CAN NOT get put in the box?

  1. Thermometers
  2. Needles (Sharps)
  3. Ointments, Lotions, or Liquids
  4. Aerosol cans
  5. Inhalers
  6. Hydrogen peroxide

The location of the medication drop box is the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office.

Lake of the Woods Sheriff’s Office keeps track of the annual amount of pounds collected for Medication, OTC and Prescription Drugs.

2018 – 49.14 lbs

2019 – 30.3 lbs

2020 – 41.78 lbs
