In Minnesota, you can vote early with an absentee ballot starting 46 days before Election Day. You can request an absentee ballot online for federal, state, and county elections.
As a reminder, Lake of the Woods County is a mail-in ballot county. If you are a registered voter, who lives outside of the City of Baudette, you should get your ballot by mail at the address you provided when you registered to vote.
Here are just a few reasons why a resident of Lake of the Woods County may want to request an absentee ballot:
- You will be away from home when your mail-in ballot arrives. Ballots are not automatically forwarded by the post office. If you need a ballot sent to a different address, please request an absentee ballot.
- Military and voters living abroad can use a special process to vote absentee. www.fvap.gov
- You live in the City of Baudette and would like to vote by absentee ballot, instead of going to the polling place on election day.
Absentee and Mail ballots may be returned by mail or in person up to and including election day. The Auditor/Treasurer’s office is open for early voting Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. We are also open the Saturday before an election from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., and the Monday before an election from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Any ballots received after election day cannot be counted.
