Field Investigator (Paid on-call) – Roseau County and Lake of the Woods County, MN
LAKE OF THE WOODS COUNTY INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF
TEMPORARY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Public Works Department
GENERAL DUTIES:
Candidate will assist on county highway projects. Candidate will perform construction inspection and observation, conduct site surveys and assist in routine maintenance/labor on county projects. This job assignment will begin at the end of May/Early June, 2026 and will go until end of August/early September 2026.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years old to operate power equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class D Minnesota Driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong interest in civil engineering or schooling/backing in civil engineering
- Past experience with Trimble survey equipment and Autodesk software
Salary: $19.58-$24.23

LAKE OF THE WOODS COUNTY INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF
SEASONAL EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
Public Works Department
GENERAL DUTIES:
Working under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Equipment Operator performs duties relating to maintenance of County roadways and properties. Duties require operation of hand held and walk behind power equipment and utility tractors, single and tandem axle trucks and pickup trucks. This position will be from June 15th, 2026 to Fall of 2026.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years old to operate power equipment
- Valid Class A Minnesota Driver’s license
- Minimum of six (6) months of experience in operation of tractors and mower units and single axle trucks
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with backhoes and other heavy machinery
- Experience in operation of tandem axle trucks
Salary: $21.43-$26.66

Deputy Auditor/Treasurer- Property Tax Administrator
DUTIES INCLUDE: This position is responsible for all phases of the real estate, personal property, and mobile home tax calculation, processing tax settlements; calculating, distributing and reporting local government aids and apportionments; preparing property transfers; processing ditches and special assessments; researching and coordinating tax forfeited land sales; researching and preparing the expiration of time of redemption for delinquent tax.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in Accounting or Business Admin and 4 years of related experience, or equivalent
- Ability to be bonded
- Good communication skills
- Valid Minnesota Driver’s license
- Ability to take Tax Calc Exam
- Ability to read and comprehend MN Statutes
- Monthly Motor Vehicle/Driver’s License/ DNR Certification & Title Certification every two years
Salary: $28.51/ hour
Full-time Position/ 40 Hours per Week / Full County Benefits

Child Support Officer
Lake of the Woods County Social Services
DUTIES INCLUDE: Under general supervision, performs paralegal functions related to the establishment and enforcement of child support orders for public assistance and non-public assistance clients; locates absent parents; interviews mothers and alleged fathers to establish paternity, explains rights and obligations and negotiates settlements; initiates necessary legal actions; works closely with the county attorney, judges, court administrators, child support magistrates, local attorneys, income maintenance and social service staff, employers, and a variety of other resource personnel; testifies in court proceedings; and maintains all necessary and legal documentation.
